WorthMyCreditCard collects just enough information to generate an educational recommendation about the cards you already own. We do not run ads, sell data, or require logins.

Information we collect
Everything you enter is optional and directly tied to the recommendation you receive. We limit what we ask for and keep it only as long as necessary to answer your question.
Assessment answers
The multiple-choice answers you provide about your spending, perks, fee sensitivity, and card preferences are used to generate a recommendation and are not stored in a database.
- Answers are held in memory long enough to build the prompt we send to our AI provider.
- If you choose “Other” and type a card name manually, we trim and sanitize it before processing.
- You can clear everything at any time by refreshing the page or clicking “Start over” inside the assessment.
Session storage snapshot
We momentarily store your most recent answers in your own browser’s sessionStorage so you can retry a recommendation without retyping anything.
- Data never leaves your device until you press “Get recommendation.”
- Closing the tab or clicking “Start over” automatically wipes the stored answers.
- We do not use persistent cookies or localStorage for tracking.
Operational diagnostics
Our Next.js server and hosting provider capture basic, ephemeral logs (e.g., timestamp, IP address, user agent, request path) solely for debugging outages, abuse, or security issues.
- Logs are rotated and deleted on a regular cadence as part of our hosting defaults.
- We never combine logs with card-specific answers or attempt to build user profiles.
How we protect your data
Minimal collection, local storage, and encrypted transport are intentional design choices. Below is a quick reference of the safeguards baked into the product.
What we never collect
- Bank logins, credit card numbers, or billing statements
- Government ID numbers, SIN/SSN, or other sensitive identifiers
- Precise income, credit score, or personal contacts
- Marketing consents for resale or third-party advertising lists
How we use your information
- To build a structured prompt that helps Anthropic Claude evaluate your answers
- To display color-coded insights, key factors, and next steps inside your browser
- To troubleshoot reliability issues (rate limits, timeouts, abuse prevention)
Data retention & deletion
- Assessment answers live in transient memory only and are discarded once a response is returned.
- SessionStorage entries are under your control and disappear when the tab closes.
- Server logs follow the retention schedule offered by our hosting provider (typically fewer than 30 days).
Third-party processors
We rely on a small number of infrastructure partners. They only receive the data required to provide their service, and they are obligated to keep it secure.
Anthropic (Claude API)
Used to transform your structured answers into a KEEP / REVIEW / CONSIDER CHANGES recommendation.
We send only the questionnaire responses and optional card name. Anthropic acts as a processor, does not retain data for advertising, and is contractually bound by its API terms.
Hosting provider (Vercel or equivalent)
Serves the web experience over HTTPS and provides standard request logs for security.
Request metadata (IP, user agent, status code) may be captured temporarily to investigate failures or abuse.
Your choices & rights
WorthMyCreditCard is a tool for adults in Canada, not a social network. Even so, you retain control over what you share and can reach out for help at any time.
Control during the assessment
Use the “Back” or “Start over” actions to update or reset answers. Because everything is client-side until you request a recommendation, you control what leaves your device.
Remove data from our systems
If you believe information about you remains in server logs or support threads, email us and we will delete it unless legal obligations require otherwise.

If you are under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your province), please do not submit information without a parent or guardian’s permission. This service is designed for adult cardholders evaluating existing accounts.
Changes to this policy
We review this document whenever we introduce new features such as analytics, account systems, or additional integrations. We will update the “Effective date” above and summarize the most material changes here.
